Gary’s Gray World - A Father’s Love for His Son – Ryan J. Cunningham

When Gary’s father is too busy to play, a scary moment at the baseball field brings his dad rushing to the park to rescue him. But instead the two discover that making time for each other is the most important thing in a father and son relationship.

What a father can do to make his son feel appreciated is mostly just by being there for him and showing his love and affection. A father should not only say the words, “I love you,” but he also needs to show how he loves his son. Giving his son a hug each day will let him know that he’s loved and cared for.
As a father, having a job to support his family is very important, but he also needs to spend quality time with his son as well. When the father comes home from work he should play with his son for an hour or so each night, even if he had a stressful day or is feeling tired.  This will give the son time to bond with his dad. Also it would be good to plan some day trips to the park, beach, camping or whatever interests the son and father enjoy together.
A good way for a father and son relationship to grow is by sitting down together and talking with each other. A father should ask his son how is day was and what fun things he did that day. This will show the boy how much his father is taking an interest in him.
When the son is old enough his father should teach him things that he will need to learn in becoming a man. By teaching him how to mow the lawn, wash and change the oil in the car, how to shave, and fix things around the house, this will give the boy skills as well as help the father and son relationship grow.
A father who takes the time to read a book to his son at night before bedtime makes a lasting impression on the son. This shows him that his dad is willing to be there for him day and night and loves and appreciates him.
